Where does it come from?

The term Panglossian originates from Dr. Pangloss, a character in Candide, the 1759 satirical novel by the French philosopher Voltaire.

Dr. Pangloss is an unwaveringly optimistic philosopher who insists, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, that "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds."

Over time, Panglossian has come to describe an excessively optimistic perspective, often challenging the reality of difficult situations to overcome seemingly impossible odds.
